Ranjeet, a mathematics graduate, embarked on a journey to pursue government exams after completing his degree. He could not crack them. With financial pressure mounting on him, Ranjeet joined Unacademy as a tutor.

Unfortunately, due to company layoffs, Ranjeet lost his job. Without getting distressed about the loss, Ranjeet tried to analyze his emotions and career. He turned the loss into an opportunity to pursue his long-standing aspiration of entering the IT industry. He yearned for a software job, inspired by the success stories of his friends who thrived in this field.

Ranjeet's Pursuit Of Web Development

When Ranjeet announced that he wanted to change industries, from the education field to the IT industry, all of his relatives and friends felt concerned. Everyone advised him not to for fear of losing experience as an educator. With no encouragement whatsoever and no idea about the next step in his career, Ranjeet started slipping into depression slowly.

However, he soon got a better grip on his self-confidence and took the first step. Like most of us, Ranjeet also started his research on Youtube. He looked at many web development videos and tried learning many languages like Java, Python, and PHP. He could not understand them in-depth as learning the new technologies without proper guidance was getting too complex and challenging for him.

Hence, Ranjeet wanted to join an offline course where he could directly face the tutor and also get the support of placements. So he chose to join a local web development training institute in his hometown, but he soon realized that they were teaching the same thing as in the youtube videos. Besides, the offline course could not support him with the placements as well.

Looking at his efforts, Ranjeet's brother also joined the quest for searching for a course that could provide him with the right industry knowledge and placements. And as luck would have it, he soon came across OdinSchool whose industry-vetted curriculum is updated regularly and have placements. He forwarded this information to Ranjeet with inspiring success stories.

Ranjeet's Journey At OdinSchool

Ranjeet was thrilled to know this. He spoke to the placement department of OdinSchool. They explained the entire web development course and the unlimited placements he could attend. He felt very motivated and joined the course.

The course got started with core Java followed by MySQL and many other technologies required for front-end development.

The best part of the whole experience was that, though the course was about to get over soon since the industry demanded proficiency in React, they taught the library thoroughly with hands-on experience on real-world projects without worrying about the course's deadline.

Ranjeet also feels happy that the OdinSchool's placement department did not give up on him after the first few attempts at securing a job. They stood by their word and kept trying for placement in both modes, online & offline. Meantime, OdinSchool's career services also tried its best on fine-tuning different aspects like behavioural training.

At the end, Ranjeet successfully secured a front-end web developer job that he dreamt of.

Ranjeet's Advice To All The Non-IT Web Development Aspirants

  1. Focus on one technology at a time, either front-end or back-end. Only once you think you have mastered one of the web development technologies, focus on the next.

  2. Having a good grasp of HTML and CSS is a must for any front-end developer. Working on JavaScript, React and Angular is good for your career growth as they are highly sought-after languages now.

  3. Just like practising technical questions are important to get through any technical job, practising the HR questions is also crucial. Be prepared beforehand for the questions like 'How do you handle stress?' or 'If you are more comfortable working in a team or single-handedly?'.

Finally, always remember that there is no specific age to learn new technology. Please do not get caught up with the fear of your Non-CS education background or the career gap you might have had. Employers are giving more importance to skills and knowledge than traditional college degrees.
