Measures of Asymmetry

A measure of central tendency gives you a feel for where the weight of the data lies (if you are into physics, think of this as the center of mass). However, it does not talk about the spread of the data, which is equally important.

This is where the Measures of Asymmetry come into play.

We will discuss two important metrics about the spread of data through the following sections. These are:

• Skewness
• Kurtosis
