Mode
Lastly, we have the Mode. This is the simplest to explain statistic of the trio - the Mean, Median and Mode.
Mode is the most common value you observe in a data set.
Looking back at the data set we have, we see that the value '85' shows up four times, and hence it is the mode for this data set.
65 | 77 | 82 | 83 | 85 | 85 | 85 | 85 | 86 | 95
What if there is no value that repeats in the data set? We simply say that the data set has no mode.
In summary, despite the tests, none of these is either a good or a bad statistic by itself.
When taken together, Mean, Median, and Mode give out a good description of the data at hand.
In the later sections, we will look at a more nuanced set of statistics that scratch beyond the surface.
