Scatter Plot
This one is a special chart. Quite often you believe that two sets of data have some relation among them. Consider the sales of soft drinks going up with the increase in temperatures as an example. Another example is the number of hours a student puts into preparation and their score for the test.
Let's plot the scores example.
It is interesting to see that the scores increase as the number of hours of preparation goes up. However, it is not a very straightforward increase. The increase holds up a bit at 15 and 20 hrs, only to go up at 25 before settling at 35 and 40 and finally shows a decline at 45.
Such a plot opens up interesting opportunities to further dig into the causes that lead to insightful conclusions.
For instance, you could say that putting in more hours is good but only to a point. Beyond that it actually becomes counterproductive. So you could advise the student to go and relax a bit after they have put in the required amount of effort.
