When young people ask me about analytics, I always tell them that analytics is all about analysis, and that is where it comes from. There are two parts to it, a business part and; a technology path.
If you look at the journey that I talked about, the business side has not expanded dramatically, although things, preferences, and generations have changed, you have to think differently. But the thought process of analysis is similar. But if you look at the back-end technology, it has expanded exponentially to meet the demand, which is why you will find that many people use technology and analytical tools synonymously with analytics, which is true to a certain extent. However, it is still not the complete picture.
